No - I dont look like frankenstein any more

Hey everyone!

Happy Valentines Day!

I've snuck on here whilst everything is quite. Jono is still in bed, he's working away this afternoon, leaves at 3pm and wont be back till late (he doesn't normally work weekends, its over time) but he's go to head south to Gatwick which is at least 4 hours away from here so no romantic night in for me!

A few of you was asking about my scar after my Thyroid lobotomy. Its now a faint line, it will eventually just be a skin crease. When I'm cold It goes purple. If you didn't know it was there then you wouldn't notice and to be honest, even when you do know its there you forget so don't notice it anyway!

I DO notice it but that's because its there in the mirror every day when I'm putting my make up on, Its not as bas as it used to be, it helps now people don't stare at it like they did when i first had it done.

Here's a picture i took of it today:

looks goof doesn't it compared to the shockers that are on facebook lol

Of course I don't mind you adding me on facebook lol I must warn you though - I'm on there ALL the time. I like Twitter a lot too so have linked them both so i only need to update one and the other updates automatically (because I'm sad like that!)

I hope your all having a brilliant day

Take care, Alana xox

It only seems like yesterday

Sorry for the second blog in one day - I'm dont think i can get around tomorrow.
I just realised that it has been 2 years since I was diagnoised with my tumour. 27th Feb 2008 is when they took my thyroid out and an egg sized tumour. It was 2 days after my 24th birthday and ironically the 27th is my brothers birthday too. I never realised how much the thyroid did and how little awareness there is. When people talk of tumours you think of the obvious ones, I know i did.
I noticed the lump many years before it was dianoised and was always told "its nothing" so i stupidly belived that. If i'd persisted and got it checked out sooner maybe i wouldnt have to of had my thyroid out. I dont want anyone else to be fobbed off - but its not something many people check.
Please keep a check on your neck! My tumour looked like an adam's apple - I often joked i was a man!

This is a (terrible) picture of me and a friend just before the diagnosis but it shows you what to look for.
If your interested in the "after" shots from surgery (please don't look if your squemish!) then follow this link to my FB page - i didnt want to upload them on here!

January is Thyroid Awareness Month - Dont forget about it the other 11 months

Do you know where your thyroid is? - http://www.thyroidawarenessmonth.com/

I feel like i should be an extra on "the little house on the prairie" all because of one floral top lol

I know its fashionable but its not something i would have ever picked up if it hadnt of been for the girls on MSE for encouraging me. Its nice - Its just not the usual "tank top" that i would bbe wearing as a slummy mummy

I've got a pic for you all! sorry about the poor quality - it was took on my phone after all by my OH who looked shocked at my dress style today lol

My cars in the garage - I dropped it off first thing - It should cost just under £150 to fix everything (we supplied the light!) and seeing as im not paying for it - BONUS

Today I dont have anything planned - OH is working tomorrow so we'll just be chilling out - didnt get much sleep either last night - about 3 hours maybe so lots of caffine!

**Ignore the fat face on the pics - i'd just got up lol**

slummy mummy not yummy mummy :-/

Yesterday was eventful, My car went in the garage and they said its looking likely to be around £500 to repair everything (inc labour) so i think it might be wrote off soon - im off to another garage today for yet ANOTHER quote. We're saving for a wedding so can't really afford a car but a friend said i can have his old Audi and pay monthly for it but im going to see what happens with my car first.

Went into town after work yesterday - i brought a pair of over the knee socks and thats it lol I wear a check "boyfriend" shirt to bed so my legs get cold - hence the over the knee socks lol I think they would like nice with a short(ish) dress and my ankle boots (yes! i know! i own shoes!) Bet you all thought my shoe collection was all from nike lol

I did see few new items i like, then saw price tags and thought better of it lol

So if you have seen theres cheaper elsewhere, let me know

Today im Slummy Mummy - I have my new socks on (its cold lol) my black boot slippers (? not sure if thats the right word) jeans and a plain black t - also got a great big towel on my head as ive washed my hair but it isnt dry yet lol SOO hope the postman doesnt come knocking on the door with a parcel

My DD is annoying me today - shes at that stage where she starts pushing bondries to see what she gets away with.

Some of the girls mentioned yesterday their nail polish keeps chipping. I use leighton denny polish - its expensive for nail polish but it lasts ages and ive never had mine chipped yet!

Sorry if this blogs a bit rubbish at the moment! i'll try to keep it active lol
